Hi Friends, You often tell me that you love the colors and mood of my paintings. I believe, you are referring to the vibrating iridescent colors of my work. The secret is the Glaze that I primed my canvas with that produced the result. Glazing is an application of colors underneath the surface of the painting. In the painting below, you may see green, pink, and brown. But what you don't see is the glaze of the artwork. A Glaze is an application of colors I cover my canvas surface with before I begin to paint. The glaze of this painting below is a crisscross of red, green, and yellow. What the glaze does to a painting is giving the overall artwork a certain vibrancy and excitement. When you look at this painting closely, you will find peaks of reds, yellows, and blues seeping through, creating depth and curiosity. If you were an artist: next time before you paint, try priming your canvas with different glazes of colors, you will love the result of your finished piece. And if you were an art admirer, take a closer look at an original painting and see if the artist had primed the canvas with washes of colors? Or does the painting looks like it was painted without a glaze? Check out the pictures below to see the transformation of the painting.
